Kodama Coaster

$5.00

Kodama are the small, ghostlike tree spirits from Studio Ghibli’s film Princess Mononoke. Delicate and otherworldly, they appear as pale, humanoid figures with round heads and simple, hollow eyes, often perched silently among the branches of ancient trees. In the film they signal a healthy, living forest—where kodama are present, the woodland is protected and vibrant. Their quiet presence evokes both the mystery of nature and the film’s themes of balance between humans and the environment. Kodama are less characters than symbols: gentle reminders of the forest’s spirit, resilience, and the quiet life that persists beyond human understanding.

4'“x4” single coaster

The coasters are made of neoprene, with a polyester layer and natural rubber base, which can firmly grip the desktop and prevent slipping. The soft material gives you a smooth and comfortable touch.

Because I personally sublimit each coaster, there will be differences in color vibrancy and application. This is the nature of doing it by hand.

The coasters are machine washable. It is not recommended to put them in the dryer.

My process:

I use Sublimation paper for my designs. I will cut out the design using my Cricut machine from art or text I have created or purchased. I then use my Heat Press machine to move the ink to the neoprene coaster.

This process is permanent. The ink becomes part of the coaster’s surface, and won’t wear of for a very long time.

Sublimation is when a solid turns directly into a gas without becoming liquid. This happens when the solid's molecules gain enough energy to break free, usually through heat or lower pressure. As the temperature rises, the molecules move faster. When the solid gains enough energy, its molecules escape into the air as gas.
